Opportunity
When COVID-19 disrupted live performance, Winter Nights shifted towards experimentation and developing new work. The challenge was to make that creative activity visible without a finished production or a live audience.
Solution
Working with the theatre team and Duncan Wright, we documented artists in their homes. Candid photography, expressive typography and hand-drawn forms connected the festival’s campaign across street posters and digital formats.
Winter in the Wings carried that story into a 124-page publication, bringing the photographs together with interviews, essays and scripts in development. The creative process became the story.
Outcome
A lasting record of Western Australian theatre-making during COVID-19. The campaign made work in progress visible, while the publication gave artists’ ideas a physical presence beyond the festival.
