Opportunity

Give a volunteer-led station a digital home that makes listening and discovery simple, with publishing tools its presenters can confidently use.

Solution

An identity connecting musical notation with Fremantle’s port cranes and cargo ships, with a full-spectrum palette inspired by Marcus Canning’s Rainbow.

The website and app bring live radio, schedules and replays together, alongside memberships, donations, podcast studio bookings, text lines and online chat.

Key decision

We kept listening open, saving preferences and favourite shows locally rather than requiring listener accounts. Memberships and donations remain optional ways to support the station.

For a Lotterywest-funded community station, this limited account infrastructure and the data to secure and maintain, helping contain ongoing costs. The trade-off: favourites stay on each device rather than syncing across devices.

Outcome

A shared brand and digital platform across web, iOS and Android, connecting everyday listening with the tools and support that keep a community station running.
